This feature isn't a huge addition, but it is a worthwhile one. There's a new photo mode that lets you snap the on-screen action and share it with friends. The game also improves how the cut scenes and in-game action flow together. The remaster boosts the framerate and smooths gameplay God of War III Remastered runs at 60 frames-per-second, with very few drops. The artistic style was so strong in the original game that I see it as a positive that little has been changed other than adding detail and sharpening edges. I eventually learned to use the camera angles as hints when they're really bad, I know that somewhere I shouldn't be.Īnd Remastered Means.Having extensively played the original God of War III, I spent a lot of time looking for the improvements that went into God of War III Remastered. This can make puzzle solving an issue, as you need to occasionally line up various objects. The camera angles are dead on, for the most part, but if you deviate from the designer's plan, you'll be left with a camera angle so poor that you'll walk off the edge of a cliff without realizing it. My only issue with God of War III Remastered is the sometimes troublesome camera, a problem that also plagued the original game. The puzzles add a welcome diversion from the bloody onslaught. Most require some consideration, and none are frustrating enough to be rage inducing-in fact, here's a hint: If any puzzle is frustrating enough to induce rage then you're going down the wrong path. Some are fun to solve and others are tedious. Most involve pulling a lever and running somewhere else to do something before time runs out. The puzzles are fairly standard platformer elements, although they are well-executed. By the end of the game, you'll be amazed at how many attacks you can chain, how many combos you can string together, and how quickly you can deliver finishing blows. The developers did a fantastic job of making each new battle just that much more difficult so that you're constantly improving your skills. God of War III Remastered (for PlayStation 4) One of my favorites was pushing L1 and R1 to gouge the eyes of an enemy. For example, pushing circle to wrap chains around a Gorgon's head and then rapidly pushing L1 and R1 to tighten the chain and rip its head off. Combat is divided into combo-driven frenetic hack and slash confrontations against lesser enemies and cinematic Quick Time Events against greater enemies that involve pushing specific buttons as they are displayed on screen to execute a sequence of special attacks. Gameplay is a combination of gruesome combat and thought-provoking puzzles. Even better: When Kratos teams with the Titan Gaia to battle Poseidon, Gaia's body doubles as the battlefield. Olympus above the clouds, but the ground is so far below you that objects that fall initiate tidal waves as they strike the sea. The grand scale of the game becomes apparent very quickly. The well-paced helps you learn the controls and suck you into the struggle. Playing God of War III Remastered God of War III Remastered immediately thrusts you into the action, as Kratos climbs and battles his way his way up Mount Olympus to seek revenge on Zeus. Olympus, God of War III Remastered is big-the levels, weapons, enemies, and action are all of epic scale. Set in the depths of Hades and the heights of Mt. This is, as God of War has always been, a dark and gory tale that pulls no punches and never fails to propel you through a stunningly over-the-top story that traverses the lands of legend. Kratos is an ex-Spartan warrior who is more than a little obsessed with bloodthirsty revenge against the gods who betrayed him. Who wouldn't want to celebrate the series with stunning graphics, immersive sound, responsive controls, and a storyline worthy of the Greek gods themselves? God of War III ($16.17 at Amazon) is an incredible action game that's only marred by its sometimes-wonky camera. This remaster was released to celebrate the franchise's 10th anniversary, and it does so with aplomb. God of War III Remastered ($39.99) is Kratos's first appearance on the PlayStation 4 ($499.00 at Amazon) and a remaster of the critically acclaimed 2010 PlayStation 3 title.
